A long-lived rhizomotous sod-former found along ditchbanks and in wet, poorly drained areas. Even if the plants are submerged for long periods of time, it will continue to survive. Often used on ditchbanks, shorelines and spillways up to 9,000 ft. in elevation. Under irrigation, Reed Canarygrass produces large amounts of forage on into the summer months. Difficult to kill once established.
