Proso Millet is an annual warm season grass that can reach heights of 4 ft. and is grown primarily for grain which is used for human consumption, livestock, and bird seed. Proso Millet will produce a grain crop approximately 65-70 days after planting. It is a valuable crop for wildlife cover, nesting and food. Among grain crops, Proso needs the least amount of water and can yield grain with as little as 6” of water but is shallow rooted and susceptible to drought.
