A short-lived bunchgrass which establishes quickly and can provide quick cover. Grows from 1-4 ft. in height. Does best in higher elevations (up to 10,000ft) and in the inter-mountain west. It is shade tolerant, and has a shallow root system. Does not withstand flooding or high water tables. Common on foothills and mountain valleys.
