A long-lived, rhizomatous sod-former adapted to poorly drained sites. Used as pasture under irrigation or in seepy sites. After establishment, it will withstand up to 70 days of water inundation. There are many weedy species that bear the name foxtail, such as Foxtail Barley (Hordeum jubatum), but bear no resemblance to Creeping Meadow Foxtail. A light and fluffy seed often sold coated to ease in drilling. It can be found at elevations up to 7,500 ft.
