Aquatic or Water Sedge (Carex aquatilus)

A strongly rhizomatous native wetland species found throughout Canada and the U.S. with the exclusion of the southeastern U.S. It can grow from 6 to 40 inches tall in elevations from sea level to 11,000 ft. Stays green into the late summer offering forage when other species are not available.
