Leguminous upright found in the north-central portion of the United States. Blooms June – August with spikes of small red – purple blossoms and can grow up to 3 ft. in height. A drought hardy plant. Primarily found on the plains but can grow at elevations up to 7,000 ft. in elevation. The root consists of a stout taproot that runs deep into the ground.
