A short lived (1-3 years) legume, quick growing, introduced legume on areas with 25 or more inches of precipitation. Red Clover grows as either Medium (double cut) or Mammoth (single cut). Stem length ranges from 18” (medium) to 30” (mammoth). It will reseed itself under optimum conditions. The bloat hazard with red clover is nearly the same as with alfalfa. It does well in a mix with irrigated pasture grasses. Should be inoculated. It can be found at elevations up to 9,000 ft
